Let’s get this part straight, yes, there is extra paperwork, although not a lot considering the benefits that you get with accreditation !

For Mass Management,
Basically the “paperwork” boils down to a record of axle weights for all loads, drivers should be doing this anyway.
Our procedures include a daily vehicle/driver check and a fault reporting/recording process (only used to record suspension faults), again, you should be using this type of process anyway.
For Maintenance Management
The standards require a documented system which incorporates scheduled servicing, fault reporting forms, minimum wear/tolerance standards and daily checks, again, not rocket science, just good business practice.
For Basic Fatigue Management (BFM)
Drivers operating under BFM hours, which are 14 hours in any 24 hour period, rather than the standard hours of 12 in any 24 hour period, are required to complete their “Work Diary” for all trips, the 100 kilometre radius (ie “Local” work exemption, does not apply).
However, the changes to definitions from Driving/Loading to “Work” or “Rest” makes completing the work diary much easier.
Employers are required to keep a record of “all driving hours” of drivers, including local driving, (even under standard hours) so the recording of all “work” in the work diary provides good records for employers.
