Prep for harvest

Hi everyone, it appears that most areas have received welcome recent rains which should result in an above average harvest and we are receiving a lot of calls with new trucks being added to Mass and other preparations well under way.

To ensure you are properly prepared now is the time to:

Get you renewal audit completed if it is due shortly, don’t forget the renewal audits can be conducted up to 9 months early (the early renewal will still result in a two year accreditation period).

Ensure you have sufficient stocks of Mass Loading Books to record load weights and pre trip inspections

Ensure you have the new Vehicle/Trailer Fault Report Book available for completion if required (these new A4 books have replaced the smaller blue books which no longer meet the NHVAS accreditation requirements)

Ensure that, if drivers are operating within 100 km radius of their driver base, or operating under the “160 km radius Primary produce exemption notice” that a record of work and rest hours is completed, our Local Work Record Book has been well received by Police and NHVR officers and meets the legal record keeping obligations when a NHVR Work Diary is not required to be completed.

Ensure you have properly trained and inducted drivers, loaders and others involved in the operation of heavy vehicles, our simple Driver Manual provides easy to understand instructions to drivers on your expectations regarding safe driving, fatigue, vehicle inspections and other safety requirements. The Driver Manual is a simple and effective way to demonstrate your commitment to safe operation of your heavy vehicles.

Ensure that you have the required access permits for B Doubles and Road Trains if operating off approved routes

Ensure that you have the required Rail Crossing Permit if crossing any railway lines with a vehicle combination over 26 meters long or 6 meters wide (such as Road Trains and Harvesters).

If you require any templates for record keeping requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
