Height Clearance Under Structures for Permit Vehicles – Victoria

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

We hope that it has been a good start for you. Today’s Top Tip is something that every driver must carry with them as they travel if their vehicle combination or loaded height is over 4.3 meters and travel in Victoria.

Typically these are Livestock vehicles, vehicles transporting baled hay and some over-size loads of indivisible items.

It is the driver’s/operator’s responsibility to plan a route so that low bridges, cables, wires, and trees are avoided, or you can pass under them safely.

Several recent bridge strikes in Victoria has created increased enforcement of the mandatory requirement to carry this document so please ensure drivers are aware of the requirement, and carry the document, if they are over 4.3 meters in height and are travelling in Victoria.

Click on the link below to use an interactive map that shows the location and height limit of structures on the main routes within Victoria (structures on local roads are not shown on this map).

As always, drive safely.

Mass Management Team
